Jambudvīpa is surrounded by the Ocean of Salt. Its circumference is 1,00,000
Yojan and it is round like a Kaner flower. We have described above
the nine divisions of Jumbo Dweep.
The area of each division is 9000 Yojan.
The eight mountains in them are estimated to have a total area of 80,00,000 Yojan. This island has a huge Jamun tree with a circumference of
100,000 Yojan. That is why it has
been named as jumbo which means Jamun
tree in Sanskrit. Moreover, there are Jamun
trees in plenty and this also justifies the name.
This island has many minor islands,
such as Sinhala Dweep, Lanka Dweep, Maldeep, and Brahm Dweep. They are eight in number and called islands. Mayachal, Venidhyachal, Guru Vardan,
Neel Parbat, and Inder khel Giri are
among the mountains found here. Few of the 45 rivers are Kaveri, Bhadra, Krishna,
Godavari, Mahanadi, Bhedasmirti,
Gomti, Suareu, Sutlej, Ganga, Jamuna and Chandrabhaga. This island is adjacent to the ocean of salt and is
also called Bhulok.
